Jean-Jacques Bienaimé (76) – 1st Alumnus with the title of ESCP Doctor Honoris Causa
On Friday June 27th 2019, Frank Bournois (Dean & Executive President) and Valérie Moatti (Dean of Faculty) have awarded Jean-Jacques Bienaimé with the Title of Doctor Honoris Causa.
Jean-Jacques Bienaimé (76), CEO of BioMarin pharmaceutical has been awarded due to his exceptionnal professional career in healthcare and biotechnologies.
The success of BioMarin, has made the topic of a study published few weeks ago by two ESCP Professors Martin Kupp and Robert Sheldon.
Jean-Jacques started his career in 1981 at Ciba-Geigy – now Novartis – in France and in the US in 1984. Then, he joigned different main industries and became CEO of BioMarin in 2005. This firm created in 1997 and based in California, is providing innovative therapeutics to patients with serious unmet medical needs.
In a few years, Jean-Jacques Bienaimé managed to give an international importance to BioMarin. The firm has now 60% of its activity outside the USA, and its value has increased from $450M to $15billions in 2019!
